Regarding the website & blog

This update is going to be posted onto both websites, if you’re reading this on the old one this might be the last update that will be posted. Future updates will be on the new website going forward.

Hey everyone, so I was testing out a new website to host my blogs and stuff, but unfortunately the way posts are created on the new site are pretty bad (lol). But I really liked how it looked so I’m making the decision to post stories onto the original website and using the new website for updates. Navigating won’t be difficult; buttons will link to the appropriate pages so you might not even notice apart from the actual website changing.

That’s it for website updates, onto other matters.

Regarding Visual Novel translations

Like my last update on this, this is a long ways out. I still need to work on a new workflow as I'm in the process of switching operating systems. I will give an update if anything changes or I start working on it.

Regarding Making up for lost time

Before I continue talking about the update, I just want to recap previous updates to bring anyone who isn’t aware up to speed about what is happening with Making up for lost time.

Back in 2023 or 2024, I made the decision to reboot my story and give it a new chapter structure on top of it to make the story less confusing and convoluted.

Originally: Prologue, Chapter 1, sub-chapters 1-1, 1-2, etc., Chapter 2, sub-chapters 2-1, 2-2, etc., interludes and intermissions.

Now: Prologue, Volume 1, Chapter 1, etc., Volume 2, Chapter 1, etc.

The prologue was always meant to be detached from the rest of the story and set apart from the first volume, because it's my own ending to the original series and setup for a new story which is Making up for lost time. This story is basically my take on what Oregairu would look like had it continued into their third year of school and ending at their graduation. It was birthed out of my desire to see Hachiman and Yukino come together and spend more time talking and interacting, as the series seriously lacks this stuff, as well as sort of “pulling back the veil” on the vagueness of everything.

I included “interludes” just like the original series as a way to put short stories (often from another character’s POV) inside the main story that were required to progress the story. Intermissions were like interludes but contained within a sub-chapter because they are very small and were purely POV changes to another character from the same scene. Going forward interludes, if I make any, will be just another chapter. Intermissions may or may not happen. So far, I’ve not written anything that has a POV change mid chapter so I don’t have a need for them. I probably won’t write them anyway.

Now, back to the present.

I had stopped writing for a long time to deal with issues facing me in real life. I had no time that I could spare to work on my projects or create new workflows to work around it. The good news is, I managed some amount of success recently which gave me a good amount of motivation. The bad news, I’m likely not going to return with any updates until I feel I’ve made a substantial amount of progress, which looks like completing volume 1 in its entirety. I looked at all of my current work done on volume 1, and realized I made a big mistake; the conclusion of volume 1 was bleeding over into volume 2. I've gone over what I've done and made changes.

This is what the story will look like going forward:

Prologue – No change, ending of the original series

Volume 1 – Beginning of a new story, containing its own arc, Arc 1 (Entire length covers both chapters 1 & 2 of the legacy version)

Volume 2 – Arc 2

Volume 3 – Arc 3

Volume 4 – Arc 4

Volume 5 – Final arc & epilogue

Seeing as we haven’t gotten far into volume 1 so far, I’ve elected to not give names to each arc listed above, as to not give away the story. If we compare the length of volume 1 to the original legacy version of Lost time, the entirety of volume 1 contains both chapters 1 & 2 of the original. Arc 2 will continue the story and introduce new characters who join the main cast and will be present for the rest of the story. Originally in the legacy version, the content of Arc 2 would have happened in “Chapter 3”, but I’ve moved it up. As well I’ve also moved some scenes that were originally planned for “Arc 4” to “Arc 1”.

To be transparent on the changes I’ve been planning from the legacy version, if we were to list it out it would look like this:

Volume 1 – Chapter 1 & 2, new content & parts of Chapter 4

Volume 2 – Entirely new content, parts of Chapter 3 regarding a certain character

Volume 3 – The original main focus of Chapter 3

Volume 4 – New content, Chapter 4

Volume 5 – Chapter 5

I’m showing this just to give a visual of what I was planning for the story and an idea of how long this was supposed to be. I really want to apologize for being a slow writer, and a writer that has been putting all of these projects on the back burner for so long. I made a promise to myself to actually get this done years ago, and this wasn’t supposed to go on longer than 2022. But as this story is my hobby and a side project, it looks like this will take a while. (I originally started this when I was just out of college)

You might think I probably shouldn’t care so much anyway because it’s not like my own original stories, and just meant to be writing practice, but even so it’s been on the back of my mind for a very long time.

Anyway, I’m going to say goodbye for now. I’ll see you when I’m finished. Take care and have a good year!
